Dr Murray and Partners additional survey March 2015

We have run a minor injuries clinic from the health centre for the past two years. It is probable that the funding for this will be withdrawn in the near future. What are your thoughts about this?

An increasing number of patients are now using our on-line services. If you use these do you find the ability to order repeat prescriptions, make and cancel appointments, and view your medication, allergies and immunisations on-line, helpful or not, easy or difficult?

We have spent some time trying to ease the processing of prescriptions by the local pharmacies including the use of the Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS) whereby prescriptions are sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. Please let us have any comments about EPS if you use this. If you have specific complaints or queries please direct them directly to us at the practice rather than via the survey, as comments are anonymous.

We may be able to enable access to parts of your medical records on-line in the future. Which parts would you like to be able to see:

We are trying to resolve the problems with confidentiality in the reception/waiting area. How concerned are you about this? Please let us have any comments you wish to make. We are planning to change the layout of the waiting room during 2015.

The number of people booking appointments on-line is increasing. We plan to change the way nurse appointments for chronic disease are planned which will make some nurse appointments available soon. Do you find booking on-line useful or are you not aware you can do this? Please comment as well if you wish.

We have added more evening GP sessions this year as a result of their popularity with patients who work. We have also added two nurse sessions in evenings to allow patients to come and see nurses for reviews or other treatment. Are you aware of these and have you used them?

Other services in Ulverston

At the moment the provision of healthcare is a hot topic, not least as a result of the general economic position and more specifically as a result of local factors. There will need to be substantial savings, we are told, in the next years, and it is difficult to see how that can be done, especially with the increase in demand from the population.

We had a really good response to our question last year about additional services in Ulverston, but we don't, sadly, have any concrete proposals for new services. Interestingly, the answers did highlight the lack of knowledge of what is available here already:

  • When needing an outpatient appointment ask if it is available in Ulverston
  • There are X-Ray facilities here in the mornings for routine things but not for fractures
  • We do, at the moment, have a minor injuries service upstairs for less serious matters, but this may cease from April 2015 as a result of budget cuts
  • All services downstairs are controlled by secondary care so ask, when making an appointment, if you can be seen here.

If you have any comments regarding provision of services please let us know below. If you have a specific request about an appointment please contact us or secondary care.

Are you aware you can request a telephone appointment with one of our doctors? Frequently this can save you having to come in for a face-to-face appointment.
