SECTION C GP APPOINTMENTS AND CONSULTATIONS

The vast majority of appointments are pre-booked but when this is not appropriate Telephone Triage, Telephone consultations and Open Surgery (on Wednesdays) are available.

Telephone Triage

The aim of this service is to provide immediate access to a GP on the day the patient presents with a problem that requires urgent attention. Clearly, this service is not for routine GP or nurse appointments. A patient who telephones the surgery requesting an appointment with the GP on the same day will be placed on the GP’s triage list. The GP will call the patient back as soon as possible to discuss and assess the problem and book a same day appointment for the patient should it be required.

Open Surgery

This service takes place on Wednesday mornings from 8.30 am to approximately 10.00 am. The Surgery opens at 8.00 am. No appointments are necessary, patients are asked to book in at Reception and are seen in order of arrival; depending upon the number of patients there may be a wait.

This service is not for patients who wish to discuss multiple issues or wish to follow-up an on-going issue but for the patient who has a problem that cannot wait until a routine appointment is available.
