Q1. Do you understand the difference between the Accident & Emergency Department and the GP Urgent Care Cambridgeshire Service?
Q2. Evidence suggests that some patients access A&E during normal GP working hours (ie. Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 6.00 pm). Have you done this within the last 12 months?
Q3. If you have answered YES please give the reason why.
Q4. Do you realise that by attending A&E and booking into their service automatically incurs a cost to the GP Surgery budget even if you do not wait to be seen or do not receive any treatment?
Q5. Would you think it reasonable if a Practice queried an A&E attendance after the event if it was during Surgery working hours?
Q6. If you have answered NO above, do you feel it is the patient's right to access medical help from an A&E Department irrespective of cost?
Q7. Financial constraints on the NHS have of course influenced medication prescribing. Every Practice is advised to stick to an approved Formulary (drug list) - drug budgets relate to cost of individual medicines and not whether treatment will be given by a doctor. Do you understand why drugs have to be prescribed within a budget?
Q8. Would it be helpful for patients to understand the need for financial constraints if they could see the cost of individual medicines being prescribed to avoid wastage, ie. ordering repeat medicines when not actually needed that month?
Q9. Do you think some patients might not care about the cost of their medicines, particularly if they are exempt or pre-pay?
Q10. Topic of next survey!
