In 2013, Carisbrooke Surgery, which was located within Marlborough House, Norman Road, St Leonards on Sea, was forced to vacate the premises due to a fire. With the help of the local council, land was found for temporary premises in the form of Portacabins, on a disused bowling green in Falaise Road. This, however, was always to be a temporary measure, and the time has come for the Practice to find new premises.
A suitable site has been found in Bexhill road, at the junction with Filsham Road, and plans are being produced to provide us with new, purpose-built accommodation. This will allow us to continue to provide and develop the high level of service which we pride ourselves on, and which our patients have come to expect.
There will be many benefits, to both patients and medical staff, in moving to these premises, some of which are suggested below:
- The Practice will be within the catchment area, rather than outside, making access easier for our patients.
- More clinical rooms, enabling us to offer more flexibility with regard to the services we offer.
- The ability to offer our services in modern, practical accommodation that will be adaptable to any future plans.
- The chance, in the long term, to offer a wider range of services, which are currently available only at the local hospital.
