Practice Proposal to Implement Improvements:
From the outcome of the survey, the practice is proposing some suggestions for improvements below;
Appointments & Reception:
- Improve help at reception
- Improve phone accessibility through to reception
- Give more accessibility to GPs & nurses over the phone.
- The practice will review the amount of same day appointments it currently offers
- Look into the possibility & ways of creating an online appointment booking service.
Clinical Care:
- Review the provision of more same day appointments
- Proposal to reduce waiting times for appointments
- Increase patient awareness of existing & late evening opening hours
- Review patient access to the same doctor (continuity of care)
- Further improve on doctors & nurses delivery of their consultations in addressing patient needs by listening, treating patients with care & concern, thorough explanation of tests & results and involving patients with their care.
- Improving consultations so that patients more fully understand their health problems and have the ability to cope with them, including information on how patient self-help.
Out of Hours:
- Give patients clearer information as to the actual opening times of the surgery
- Give patients additional information on out of hours services and when to use them.
Information & Communication:
- Inform patients of new developments in the practice
- Practice to use preferred methods of communication by patients – text, email newsletters & posters in waiting area.
- Practice website will still exist and be updated regularly.
Overall:
- Improve and expand on our current level of service, including consultations, systems and professionalism of all staff.
